Tips for Renting a Quality Instrument

In my time teaching, I have witnessed the good and bad of instrumental rentals. This Strings Magazine Article provides some very helpful tips for parents and students during their search for the right violin.  Having a violin that is playable is not the only factor in purchasing or renting a violin. It is incredibly important that the instrument can not only be played, but that it is easy to play and actually sounds good! So many young students get frustrated with the tone that they produce because they think that their skill is to question. In reality, many times the instrument is so difficult to play or has such a poor tone that they are at the mercy of their cheap instrument. If you follow some of these helpful tips, you may avoid some frustration for your student, may save some money, and may begin to enjoy the sounds being produced by your child’s instrument in his/her practice time. 🙂
